Wild Horses of Assateague by photographer & filmaker Mark Coulbourne. About 300 Wild Horses live in many remote areas on the island. Wild horses have lived on the island since the early 1600's (some say they arrived by a Spanish Galleon shipwreck). Since 2001, Mark has captured unique images of the legendary wild horses from a boat along the island. The wild horses live in many bands (family herds) along the 37 mile island. The horses' have a main diet of salt marsh grass. This beautiful part the United States remains unspoiled. Visit the Assateague Nature Centre in Virginia and Capt. Mark will take you on a photo safari cruise. http://www.AssateagueExplorer.com
